About The Project
THE CALICO ROCK MUSEUM & VISITOR CENTER

Calico Rock Visitor Center
Our guests enter the museum center through the Calico Rock Visitor
Center.  Guests pass through a replicated front porch of an 1880s
homestead into the magic of our museum.

Calico Rock Artisan Cooperative
After stepping through the front porch of the cabin, guests will
literally step onto the Calico Rock Landing where steam boats docked
until 1903.  Then, shop from over 30 local artists who regularly
conduct craft demonstrations.

Calico Rock Museum
Guests travel back in time as they ascend the stairs leading to the
museum on the mezzanine.  The exhibits include Native American
culture, Pioneer Settlers, Steamboats, Frontier Settlers, the Civil War,
a One Room Schoolhouse, Building the Railroad, the Railroad Depot,
Boom Town, Jot Em Down Stores, and Medicine.  The museum is
handicap accessible.

Art Gallery & Conference Center
A state of the art conference center and art gallery welcome guests,
business meetings, or family reunions.  Guests can partner with local
businesses for lodging or catering.  To schedule a meeting at the
conference center, call 870-297-4129.

The railroad brought an end to steamboating
along the White River, but with it Calico Rock
became a boom town and regional economic
center.
